Introduction This training course is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the diagnosis and management of depression. We will cover topics such as best practice approaches for providing effective therapeutic support to those suffering from depression, exploring the range of psychotherapeutic approaches to treating depression, recognizing symptoms of depression in individuals, understanding common triggers for depressive episodes, managing difficult emotions associated with depression, developing self-care strategies for living with depression, and using appropriate treatment plans. Participants will gain an understanding of the various facets of managing depression in both individual and family settings, as well as obtain practical skills for helping those struggling with this mental illness. At the end of this course, participants should have increased knowledge and confidence in their ability to help those suffering from depression.    Objectives 
  1. Objective: To provide an overview of Depression Therapy & management and how it can be used to treat vulnerable populations.
  2. Objective: To provide an understanding of the diverse types of depression and how each type is managed differently through therapy.
  3. Objective: To develop a comprehensive approach to assessing and treating depression using best practices in the field.
  4. Objective: To identify risks associated with depression, including comorbidities, suicide prevention strategies, and other issues that might influence treatment plans for clients. 
  5. Objective: To gain skills in developing individualized treatment plans for patients with a variety of levels of severity in their depression symptoms. 
  6. Objective: To understand issues related to medication management, family dynamics, substance abuse issues related to depression, and long-term outcomes associated with successful depression treatments. 
  7. Objective: To explore ethical issues associated with providing care for individuals with mental illness such as informed consent, confidentiality and respect for autonomy while recognizing patient rights.
