As a beginner-level course for canine owners and caregivers, we will focus on providing basic information that can be applied immediately. 

By the end of this course, you should have the knowledge necessary to identify potential health risks related to warm weather and create an environment that is comfortable and secure for your pet. So, let’s get started — it’s time to learn how to keep your canine cool!

 

Objectives 

  1. Understand how to recognize signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke in your canine. 
  2. Learn methods for keeping your canine cool during the summer months. 
  3. Learn about appropriate summertime care and exercise for your canine, such as grooming and training routines. 
  4. Become familiar with safe ways to transport a canine in warm weather conditions, both inside and outside of the home environment. 
  5. Master techniques for providing adequate hydration and nutrition for your canine during warm summer months without overfeeding or overhydrating them, as well as preventing dehydration caused by excessive panting or activity levels in hot temperatures. 
  6. Gain knowledge about how to properly utilize cooling mechanisms such as fans, air conditioning, cool water baths, etc., to keep your canine comfortable in the summer months.
