Forklift operation and safety maintenance

Forklift Operation and Safety Maintenance is a comprehensive training course designed to educate students on the proper operation and safety maintenance of industrial forklifts. This course will cover topics such as regulations, accident prevention techniques, pre-operation checks and maintenance procedures. Trainees will learn how to safely operate forklifts in accordance with OSHA requirements, identify potential hazards associated with forklift operations, perform pre-operation inspections, understand diesel engine operation principles, manage spare parts inventory control systems, understand the function and purpose of logging devices, practice safe refuelling methods, understand load chart calculations and be familiar with various load handling accessories. The final portion of the course is devoted to safety maintenance considerations such as lubrication specifications for hydraulic systems, adjusting seating positions for improved ergonomics and other preventative maintenance checks. Upon successful completion of this training course syllabus participants will receive a certificate recognizing their knowledge in Forklift Operation and Safety Maintenance.

Objectives 

1. Identify the operating principles, features and controls of the Forklift. 
2. Understand the safety rules and regulations for working with Forklifts. 
3. Develop essential skills on how to inspect, operate and maintain a Forklift safely and efficiently in accordance with OSHA requirements.
4. Learn how to properly lift heavy loads using a Forklift, controlling, and manoeuvring materials through tight spaces or up/down slopes when necessary.  
5. Familiarize participants with emergency procedures such as responding to power failure, leaks or spills, mechanical breakdowns etc., as well as other potential risks associated with Forklift operations. 
6. Demonstrate proper knowledge of forklifts through hands-on practice driving, loading/unloading materials while remaining in compliance with OSHA guidelines on safe operation standards in different environments (indoor/outdoor). 
7. Provide instruction on how to use Load Stabilizers/Stabilizer Arms for enhanced control/safety when moving materials at height during lifting operations  

8 Ensure proficiency in understanding all aspects of forklift operation including pre-operation inspections, refuelling/battery charging practices & parking protocols etc., for overall improved workplace safety performance.
