Introduction 

Welcome to the Dog Behavioral Issues on Training Course! This course will provide you with an overview of dog behavior and how it relates to training. You’ll learn about different techniques used to change problem behaviors, such as the use of conditioning, desensitization, and counterconditioning. We will also cover basic rules for effective reward-based training. Finally, we’ll discuss common behavioral issues encountered by dog owners including separation anxiety and excessive barking. By the end of this course, you should have a better understanding of how positive reinforcement can help your dog become a more pleasant companion.

 

Objectives 

  1. Understand the fundamentals of canine behavior and communication as they relate to training and interactions with humans. 
  2. Identify common behavioral issues in dogs, such as barking, destruction of furniture, aggression, and separation anxiety. 
  3. Develop a comprehensive plan for addressing these behavioral issues using positive reinforcement, reward-based and marker-based methods. 
  4. Learn how to set boundaries, communicate expectations, and establish leadership roles when interacting with a dog. 
  5. Implement strategies for properly channeling a dog’s energy while teaching them basic obedience commands such as “sit”, “down”, “come” and “stay”. 
  6. Address problems associated with hyperactivity or lack of focus during training sessions and use appropriate strategies for managing attention spans in an effective manner during long training sessions with multiple distractions present in the environment.
