Welcome! This training course on Crisis Management is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to effectively handle difficult and critical situations.Â
We will discuss the fundamentals of crisis management, including how to identify potential risks, develop a crisis response plan, respond quickly and adequately during times of distress, and plan for successful recovery after a crisis. Through a combination of lecture notes, case studies and interactive activities, this course will help you understand the necessary steps for managing crises in an efficient manner. All participants are encouraged to actively participate in discussions and activities to gain the skills needed to leverage their team’s capabilities in times of difficulty.
ObjectivesÂ
- Identify potential crisis situations and develop strategies to mitigate potential risk.Â
- Develop effective communication plans for both internal and external stakeholders in a crisis situation.Â
- Establish effective processes and procedures to manage crises and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Â
- Understand different types of crises that can occur, including natural disasters, financial difficulties, technological disruptions, workplace violence, health-related events, etc., and how to respond effectively in each case.Â
- Create an emergency preparedness plan outlining specific processes for responding to a range of crisis scenarios.Â
- Identify key personnel roles during a crisis and clarify their respective responsibilities for effective response measures.Â
- Analyse how different sources of information (e.g., media reports, social media posts) can be used to assess the severity of a crisis situation and inform decision making during an emergency response effort
